π Holiday Trivia
How long have Candy Canes been around for?
According to the National Confectioners Association, the first recorded use of candy canes in America dates back to 1847, when a German immigrant used them to decorate his holiday tree. Prior to that, legend says they were invented in 1670 by a choirmaster in Cologne, Germany. Nowadays, the iconic Christmas candy is a holiday staple with more than 1.2 billion produced and sold each year.
π΄ Holiday Card Donations
As in years passed, we are once again asking for donations of used
holiday cards at the end of the season. Cards may be turned in to be
recycled and to support a great cause, St. Judeβs Ranch for Children.
They recycle used greeting cards to support their programs and
services for abused, neglected and homeless children, young adults and
families. (Note: Hallmark, Disney or American Greeting cards cannot be
accepted.) Weβll set up a collection box in January, near the mailboxes.
Please do not remove the backs of the cards.
Thank you everyone for your donations and especially Ruth Southworth for running the program here at Schooner.

π Happy 100th Birthday!
To Betty McCall, may your special day be as wonderful as you are. Your kindness shines through to all who know you! Happy 100th birthday from the entire Schooner Family.
βοΈ For Your Convenience…
During the cold, snowy winter months, if you need your vehicle for an appointment, etc., please let maintenance know (ext. 159, at least a day ahead), and they will have it ready for you. They will start your car, clear frost from the windshield, and do any snow removal.
Let the snowflakes fly, but not too many!
